Headspring Investments agrees with international scientists

The Omaheke Farmers Engagement Day, hosted by the Omaheke Regional Council, was a pivotal event that convened government officials, community leaders, and farmers to discuss critical issues impacting the agricultural sector in the Omaheke region. The event aimed to foster dialogue between the government and the local community, focusing on drought, economic challenges, and the role of mining in the region. Headspring Investments attended as a key stakeholder, reaffirming its commitment to responsible mining and community engagement.

Our latest initiative, in partnership with the Namibia Institute for Mining Technology (NIMT), aims to equip 20 young people from Leonardville with the skills and experience necessary to build promising careers in the mining and related industries.

Rosatom, the mother company of Uranium One Group, has a proven track record of over 50 years in In-Situ Leaching or In-Situ Recovery (ISR) mining. Because Rosatom insists on the highest ecological standards, there has been no incident of contamination in any of our ISR mines, ever.

Has Uranium One considered the pollution risk of the exploration and mining in the Leonardville area and if so, what mitigating actions have been established and how effective these proven to be during the current exploration process?

As we have heard, Uranium One has recently opened an office in Leonardville. What does it mean for the company, its activities and the local community?

The 11th Mining Expo and Conference, held in Windhoek, Namibia, from August 7-8, 2024, marked a significant milestone for the country’s mining sector. The event, themed “Green Shoots for Namibia’s Mining Industry: A Season of Opportunity and Growth to Drive Economic Expansion,” broke participation records with 199 exhibitors occupying 317 booths. This surge in participation underscores the growing confidence in Namibia’s mineral potential, reflected by over 1,000 new exploration license applications submitted in 2024.

The Namibia Institute for Mining Technology (NIMT) and Headspring Investments (HIS) have entered into an agreement whereby 20 young people from Leonardville will be afforded an opportunity to study full time at NIMT, whereafter they will be placed in jobs where they can gain valuable practical experience.

Twenty young people from Leonardville will gain valuable education as artisans after Headspring Investments (PTY) Ltd and the Namibia Institute of Mining Technology (NIMT), have entered into an agreement of cooperation.
