Headspring Investments is open to IAEA recommendations for further uranium exploration in Namibia

Headspring Investments has welcomed the visit of the IAEA expert mission which conducted a technical review of the in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium mining project in the Omaheke region on February 9-13. Company’s representatives have provided international IAEA experts with full access to all technical documentation and results of geological exploration work.

Headspring Investments thanks the Government of Namibia, the Prime Minister, all ministries, the Governor of Omaheke region, and local communities for constructive engagement during the IAEA mission visit.

Headspring Investments emphasises that the ISR method is successfully applied in the USA, Kazakhstan, and Australia and is recognised as one of the most environmentally safe in the uranium industry. A network of observation wells will be installed at the test site for real-time monitoring, and all data will be available to regulatory authorities for independent review.

ISR is a water-efficient method for uranium mining as the same solution used for uranium extraction is recycled and reused multiple times. The process is carefully controlled with computerised techniques in real time to protect surrounding groundwater, ensuring sustainable resource usage.

The company is awaiting the recommendations of the IAEA expert mission, which will be presented to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism. According to company representatives, the meetings were held in a constructive atmosphere and demonstrated a high level of professionalism from all parties involved. Headspring Investments is ready to take into account all recommendations from international experts and make necessary adjustments and sees it as an opportunity to make the project even safer and more sustainable.

As Headspring Investments Managing Director Kirill Egorov-Kirillov states: “Our goal is to implement a project that serves as a model for combining economic development with environmental stewardship and social responsibility. We invite all stakeholders to continue a transparent dialogue”.

Headspring Investments is committed to raising awareness of the safety measures and technologies that will be used to build trust with all interested parties. It is extremely important to the company that the project meets the needs and expectations of the public and the authorities.
